Skills and knowledge required to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.

Who Should Attend

People who haven’t recently completed first aid training and are requried to learn the skills and knowledge to provide CPR.

Prerequisites

The prerequisites for attendance at this course are:

  • completion of online pre-learning for HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • your Unique Student Identifier (USI). If you do not have a USI please apply for one via the USI website.

Note: All prerequisites need to be current.

Learning Outcomes

As a result of attending this course participants should be able to:

  • DRSABCD steps
  • Responding to an emergency
  • Performing CPR procedures – application of compressions and rescue breathing when a person is unresponsive and breathing abnormally
  • Communicating details of the incident
  • Performing CPR to sustain brain function and life until medical support arrives.

PPE/PPC & Equipment Requirements

PTS training room standards apply:

  • smart casual attire (no shorts)
  • enclosed footwear
  • you will be required to show photo ID to the trainer at the start of the training day

Assessments

Assessments are included in this course.

  • As part of these units of competency you will be required to perform 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an adult resuscitation manikin (placed on the floor) and 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an infant manikin (placed on a firm surface).
