On-line assessments for authority holders

A number of assessments will now need to be completed online, effective from Friday, 11 December 2015. The online assessments listed below need to be completed prior to the authority expiration date.

  • Recipient In Charge VA
  • Recipient In Charge EA
  • Tester in Charge
  • Substation Entry Level 1
  • Substation Entry Level 2

Each online assessment takes about 90 minutes. They can be taken at a time convenient to the authority holder, however, it is recommended that an uninterrupted block of time is set aside. Once the assessment session is commenced it must be finished as it cannot be returned to at a later time.

Authority expiration notification
Western Power makes every effort to notify authority holders by email when their authority is due to expire. These notifications are sent to Western Power employees' email addresses, however, please note that contractor notifications may be sent to the company’s central or administrative email address.

Authority expiration reminder emails are sent at 90, 60 and 30 day intervals prior to the expiry date. The 90 day reminder email will be accompanied by another separate email that will have a link to the online assessment. This time frame allows ample time to complete the assessment, which must be completed within the 90 day notification period.

If an individual fails to pass the assessment, they will be notified onscreen immediately and their authority made inactive. PTS will notify formal leaders and external companies of their direct reports who fail the assessment.

No extensions to authorities
As there will be no extensions to authorities if personnel fail to complete the online assessment, it is strongly recommended that the assessment is undertaken as early as possible. The individual authority holders, their formal leader or employer are responsible for ensuring that authorities are maintained.
