Operational induction for Western Power employees
Approximately 5 hours


This Operational Induction covers working on the Western Power network including power generation, transmission and distribution processes, working with electricity on the network, the dangers of electricity and other hazards that can occur while working on or around the network as well as safe practices. An introduction is provided on the responsibilities of key site personnel when working on the Western Power Network, as well as permits and electrical tagging.
Course duration
2 online modules, allow 30 – 40 minutes per module.
You are required to complete all modules in the order provided, however each module is stand-alone and can be completed separately. To complete each module you must complete it’s assessment.
Who Should Complete
All Western Power employees who require a Network Authority Card (NAC).
Prerequisites
You must have completed the following online modules which are mandatory for all Western Power employees.

- Safety First – Part 2
- SHE Risk Management
Learning Outcomes
As a result of attending this course participants should be able to:
Module 1 – Western Power Network
- How electricity is transmitted and distributed over the network.
- What are the hazards you need to be aware of while working on the network.
- What the dangers are of working on and around electricity.
- What the requirements are for operating and maintaining the network.
Module 2 – Accessing the Network
- What your responsibilities are when working on the Western Power Network.
- Who the key site personnel are and their responsibilities.
- Which permits and electrical tags are used and when to use them.
