Work Practices PHASE 3 - A new approach to safety in the field

Our Work Practices are changing – this training is to learn about the changes.

Who Should Attend

All operational employees are expected to attend.

What’s changing?

The Work Practices documentation is sometimes hard to follow. Content is duplicated and overly prescriptive. So it’s being replaced with a reduced number of Work Instructions.
It will be better because it will be simpler, clearer documentation that fits into our SHE Management System Framework.

As well, Depot Pack is being updated and there is a new Workplace Risk Assessment Plan to cover work on Total Fire Ban Days.

Why is it changing?

The changes are part of the Work Practices Phase 3 project, which is part of our Workforce Safety Maturity Strategy.
Phases 1 & 2 saw:

• Updated Electrical System Safety Rules (ESSR)
• Safety LifeSavers replaced by the Golden Safety Rules
• Safe Working Method Statements and WRAPs combined

Who has been involved in the changes?

There has been extensive consultation with members of the Review Groups and Union Representatives, including the Safety Information Review Group to make sure that the changes are practical and will make sense. In addition, a pilot session of the training was run to gather and incorporate feedback.
