Basic Worksite Traffic Management (BWTM)

- Work safely and follow WHS policies and procedures (RIIWHS201D)
- Communicate in the workplace (RIICOM201D)
- Implement traffic management plan (RIIWHS302D)
Theory and practical skills required to implement a traffic management plan, ensuring traffic flow is maintained and the safety risk to all road users and workers is minimised. This course is a mandatory requirement if working on or near roads within WA.

Who Should Attend
Anyone working on or near WA roads, such as controlling and managing traffic as part of their normal duties.
Prerequisites
The prerequisites for attendance at this course are:
- Provide a Unique Student Identifier (USI)
- Hold (or have held) an Australian Drivers Licence (a Learns Permit is not acceptable)
- Hold a Worksafe WA Construction Safety Awareness Training Card (blue card) or Construction Induction Card (White Card)
- Have good English literacy and reading skills as training will involve reading work instructions, writing safety documentation and interpreting traffic guidance schemes
- Have good level of physical fitness/health as training will involve lifting/moving signs and devices (approximately 6-8kgs each) and setting up/packing down sites.
Note: All prerequisites need to be current.
Course Includes
- plan and prepare basic worksite traffic management
- set out the traffic guidance scheme
- monitor traffic guidance scheme
- close down traffic guidance scheme
- clean up work area
- prepare, plan and carry out required workplace communication
- work safety and follow WHS policies and procedures.
PPE/PPC & Equipment Requirements
Evidence of your current prerequisites will need to be presented to trainer and the assessor on the day
- PPE Level 1, including:
- Hat/Sun protections
- gloves
- Wet weather gear – weather dependent

Assessments
Written and practical assessments are included in the course.
Participants will need to demonstrate the required knowledge and the necessary practical skills in line with the learning outcomes.
Participants will not be considered to have completed this course until all assessments have been completed to a satisfactory level.

Certificate of Completion at the end of this course
