Service Connection Testing (MMM)

This one day provides participants with the skills and knowledge to conduct service connection tests on Multiple Master Metering (MMM), Distributed Master Metering (DMM), Current Transformers (CT) and Unmetered Supplies (UMS) using Western Power’s requirements and procedures

Who Should Attend

This course is designed for participants who will be required to conduct service connection testing.

Please note: Whilst Apprentices are permitted to attend the course, they are only permitted to do service connection tests under the direct supervision of a qualified lines person. They may only sign as the witness.

Prerequisites

The prerequisites for attendance at this course are:

  • Certificate III in ESI – Overhead or
  • Certificate III in ESI – Cable Jointing qualification; or
  • currently enrolled in a Certificate III ESI qualification (working live); or
  • Western Australian electrical licence
  • post trade electrical qualification AQF Level III or higher
  • Network Authority Card (NAC)

Note: All prerequisites need to be current.

Learning Outcomes

As a result of attending this course participants should be able to conduct a service connection test on:

  • Multiple Master Metering (MMM).
  • Distributed Master Metering (DMM)
  • Current Transformers (CT)
  • Unmetered Supplies (UMS)

PPE/PPC & Equipment Requirements

Some of the practical training for this course will take place in an operational area. You are required to have/provide Western Power approved PPC and PPE requirements for the practical work. Refer to the Western Power PPE Procedure Sections 3.1 & 3.2, for these requirements.

You will also need the following:

  • LV insulated rubber gloves (in date) and outers
  • clear safety glasses are recommended

Assessments

Assessments are included in this course. Participants will not be considered to have completed this course until all assessments have been completed to a satisfactory level.

Please note: You will need to attend a reassessment every six months or as determined by the Work Practice Manual.
