Substation entry
This course has no current classes. Please join the waiting list.
Awareness of the environment when working in a restricted area (eg. a substation) and the procedures and practices that apply. A visit to an operational substation is included in this course.

Who Should Attend
People who are required to sign on a work permit before performing work on or near Western Power substation equipment.
Prerequisites
The prerequisites for attendance at this course are:
Network Authority Card (NAC)
Note: All prerequisites need to be current.
Learning Outcomes
As a result of attending this course participants should be able to:
- Familiarisation with restricted areas
- Working safely in the danger zone
- Implementation of site security, control and management
PPE/PPC & Equipment Requirements
PTSWA training room standards apply:
- smart casual attire (no shorts)
- enclosed footwear
You will be visiting an active substation so will require:
- long-sleeved shirt and long pants
- safety boots
- high visibility vest
- safety glasses
- hard hat
Note: Power Training Services does not provide PPE, PPC and tools for training courses.
Assessments
Written and practical assessments are included in the course.
Participants will need to demonstrate the required knowledge and the necessary practical skills in line with the learning outcomes.

Other
Practical component of this training will take place at an operational substation – travel to the substation is required (approx. 10 minute drive). If you do not have your own transport, please advise your trainer on the day so that alternative transport can be arranged.
