Provide basic emergency life support

- Provide basic emergency life support (HLTAID002)
This one-day course describes the skills and knowledge required to recognise and respond to life threatening emergencies in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines. This unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide an emergency response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

People who are required to provide basic emergency life support.
Prerequisites
The prerequisites for attendance at this course are:
- must have a USI (participant must provide details at registration)
Learning outcomes
As a result of attending this course participants should be able to:
- Respond to an emergency situation
- Apply appropriate first aid procedures
- Communicate details of the incident
PPE/PPC & Equipment Requirements
PTSWA training room standards apply:
- smart casual attire (no shorts)
- enclosed footwear.

Assessments
Assessments are included in this course. Participants will not be considered to have completed this course until all assessments have been completed to a satisfactory level. When deemed competent a statement of attainment will be awarded.

Other
- students will be required to produce photographic identification to the trainer prior to the commencement of training
- as part of these units of competency you will be required to perform 4 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor and 4 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an infant manikin placed on a firm surface
