This two-day course will provide the learner with the basic underpinning knowledge and concepts of Western Power substation primary plant arrangements.

Who Should Attend
This course is suitable for people who are required to work on or near Western Power substations.
Prerequisites
The prerequisites for attendance at this course are:
- Network Authority Card (NAC)
- Western Australia Electrical Licence
Note: All prerequisites need to be current.
Learning Outcomes
As a result of attending this course participants should be able to:
- Describe interconnected and non-interconnected systems
- Describe Western Power’s substations and substations busbar arrangements
- Use the component identification and drawing systems to identify components
- Explain the purpose and function of substation/substation components
- Describe Western Power’s substation protection systems
PPC and PPE requirements
PTSWA training room standards apply:
- smart casual attire (no shorts)
- enclosed footwear
Note: Power Training Services does not provide PPE, PPC and tools for training courses.
Assessments
Assessments are included in this course. Participants will not be considered to have completed this course until all assessments have been completed to a satisfactory level.
