Schneider reclosers and load break switches

This course is designed to enable the operator to identify, operate and program Schneider reclosers and load break switches using WSOS 4 software. Reclosers and load break switches are electronically controlled pole-top-mounted switchgear, and form part of Western Power’s HV overhead network protection.

Who Should Attend
Network / Technical / Project Officers who are required to program, commission and maintain Schneider Reclosers and Load Break Switches.
Prerequisites
The prerequisites for attendance at this course are:
- Network Authority Card (NAC)
- Western Australian Electrician’s Licence Certificate of Registration
- Computer literacy. Student must know how to use MS Windows Explorer, MS Internet explorer and MS Excel or have attended a recognised training course of a level that will allow the student to work with Western Power applications.
Note: All prerequisites need to be current.
Learning Outcomes
As a result of attending this assessment participants should be able to:
- Explain the purpose of Schneider switchgear used on Western Power’s network
- Describe the operation of Schneider switchgear
- Explain safety and job requirements for programming and commissioning Schneider switchgear
- Describe the procedures for programming and commissioning Schneider switchgear
- Interrogate and program relevant settings using WSOS
- Demonstrate the programming and commissioning of Schneider switchgear.

PPE Level 1

Students will need to bring a laptop with serial port and WSOS4 software pre-installed by IT Store.
Note: Power Training Services does not provide PPE, PPC and tools for training courses.
Assessments
Written and practical assessments are included in the course.
Participants will need to demonstrate the required knowledge and the necessary practical skills in line with the learning outcomes.
Participants will be required to complete an on-the-job workbook. This workbook includes a number of written and practical assignments.
The assignments must be completed and submitted to Power Training Services WA.
Participants will not be considered to have completed the course until all on-the-job assignments have been successfully completed.
