Earth Borer Operator
This course provides the participant with the skills and knowledge to safely operate the earth borer and any attachments. Ensuring structural integrity and stability of the earth borer is maintained and it complies with manufacturers equipment requirements, relevant legislation and enterprise policies and procedures.
Note: To undertake this course the client must provide the necessary plant and equipment, ie. earth borer.

People requiring to operate a rigid earth borer in the vicinity of energised apparatus.
Prerequisites
- Network Authority Card (NAC)
Note: Participants who have experience operating heavy duty machinery with hydraulically controlled functions will have an advantage in this course.
Learning Outcomes
As a result of attending this course participants should be able to:
- Perform pre-operational checks and system function tests
- Set up an earth borer correctly
- Operate an earth borer and its attachments correctly
- Bore a hole with an earth borer
- Maintain clearances from all public utilities
- Shut down an earth borer and prepare for road travel
- Perform post-operational checks
PPE/PPC & Equipment Requirements
Level 1 PPE
- To undertake this course the client must provide the necessary plant and equipment, ie. earth borer.*
Some of the practical training for this course will take place in an operational area. You are required to have/provide Western Power approved PPC and PPE requirements for the practical work. Refer to the Western Power PPE Procedure Sections 3.1 & 3.2, for these requirements.
Note: Unless otherwise stated, Power Training Services does not provide PPE, PPC and tools for training courses.
Assessments
Assessments are included in this course. Participants will not be considered to have completed this course until all assessments have been completed to a satisfactory level.
